PHOTOGRAPHERS CHECKLIST….. getting organised.

So things are steadily opening up again and soon , fingers crossed we will all have a little more freedom. I’ve started to shoot commercial projects and location portraits again which is soooooo good and very soon weddings too!

It’s amazing how quickly you get out of a routine , I have always used checklists to sort out my kit and to plan my shooting and workflow, otherwise I would simply forget things and where I’m at. I do like a list , especially when you get to cross something off of it.

I’ve shot well over 300 weddings in the last 15 years but I still need a checklist to get ready. Why not download my Wedding Kit Checklist for FREE, I always try and have everything ready the day before , this isn’t always possible if I have back to back weddings but generally on the whole I can, it just means that I can then get a good nights sleep the night before and be ready and raring to go in the morning.

The check list has grown over the years and I’m sure I will keep on adding things as I continue to shot. I always take spare shoes and clothes , why you may ask ? Unfortunately when I was shooting a wedding at Glemham Hall in Suffolk the sole of my shoe came off and I spent the rest of the day with a hairband holding the shoe together. I have spare clothes due to the fact that I have on several occasions wadded into the sea and a river to get a shot and got soaked, I often lay in fields and end up covered in dirt to get the shot too, so spare clothes is always good, I even take spare underwear , I often go out in the rain to get the shot and end up wet through.

I don’t use everything on the list every wedding but it’s always good to be prepared , in the evening I tend to experiment and get creative this is when my off camera flash kit comes into play and the prisms and sparklers .
